Brady Endorses Rep. David Price (NC-04) for Re-Election: A Needed Leader on Gun Violence Prevention in Congress

Washington, D.C., January 28, 2020 - Today, Brady endorsed Rep. David Price (NC-04) in his campaign for re-election to the U.S. House of Representatives in 2020.

Brady President Kris Brown stated:

“Rep. Price has championed common-sense and comprehensive gun safety laws that make communities safer and respect the Second Amendment rights of all Americans and North Carolinians. As a Vice Chair of the House Gun Violence Prevention Task Force, Rep. Price has worked to ensure that Congress examine and pass laws that not only address the root causes of violence but ensure that those who should not possess weapons do not have access to them, researching gun violence and examining this issue as a matter of public health. This includes the first funding allocation for the CDC and NIH to study gun violence in over 20 years. We need this clear and sustained leadership in Congress. It’s why we’re proud to endorse Rep. Price for re-election.”

Serving as a Vice Chair of the House Gun Violence Prevention Task Force, Rep. Price has been at the forefront of action in the 116th Congress, including the bipartisan bills passed by the U.S. House of Representatives in February 2019 H.R.8 and H.R.1112, which would strengthen and expand background checks. Rep. Price likewise has been one of the leading advocates in Congress for funding research into the country’s gun violence epidemic, helping to secure $25 million for the CDC and NIH to study gun violence, the first such funding since 1996.

Rep. Price shared:

"Gun violence is an epidemic in America -- one that requires urgent action. I'm proud to earn the endorsement of Brady, one of the first and leading national organizations advocating for common-sense policies to reduce gun violence because we don’t have time to waste. Together, we’ll continue fighting for an America where everyone can be safe at school, at church, or out in their community."

Brown concluded:

“Rep. Price has led on these issues. He has championed gun violence prevention. We need his proven leadership in Congress.”

Given the urgent need for federal action to reform our nation’s gun laws and to reduce gun violence, Brady will continue to issue endorsements for the U.S. House of Representatives, U.S. Senate and state and local offices ahead of the 2020 elections.
