New Team ENOUGH Executive Council members will galvanize the movement against gun violence
WASHINGTON, D.C., September 9, 2026 — Team ENOUGH, the youth arm of Brady, the nation’s oldest gun violence prevention organization, welcomed seven new members to its prestigious national Executive Council.
Founded shortly after the 2018 shooting at Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School in Parkland, Florida. Team ENOUGH educates, empowers, and mobilizes the next generation of leaders in the gun violence prevention movement. The Executive Council oversees Team ENOUGH’s campaigns, goals, and strategic vision to free America from gun violence. Former members have gone on to run for elected office, advise presidential campaigns, become leading advocates and public servants, and earn recognition from Vogue, TODAY, Politico, Elle, The New Yorker, The Washington Post, and more.
Our new members include:
- Lorenzo Beltran, a Filipino-American activist and student at the University of Pennsylvania. Beltran focuses on economic and environmental justice, LGBTQ+ and POC representation in public health, and youth empowerment.
- Zharia Deese, a senior social work student at Fayetteville State University. Deese is passionate about advancing equity, and her research focuses on intimate partner violence among Black women.
- Trey Jackson, the former political director at March for Our Lives Iowa and legislative coordinator for Brady Iowa. Jackson is currently studying Philosophy and Political Science at Washington University in St. Louis.
- Ananya Misra, the co-lead of Team ENOUGH’’s Youth Advocacy Training Program and a senior at Duke University.
- Zoe Weissman, a junior at Brown University, who has dedicated the past seven years of her life to gun violence prevention. After attending the neighboring middle school during the Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School shooting in 2018 and later being in her dorm during the 2025 Brown University shooting, she has continued to share her experience as a student growing up in Generation Lockdown.
- Gray West, a junior at Wesleyan University, whose commitment to gun violence prevention stems from losing family friends to gun violence in Monument, CO.
- Sarah Youssef, the most recent recipient of the Cookie and Kenny Misher Youth Advocacy Award for her work with “PBS Student Reporting Labs” producing and starring in the documentary “Run, Hide, Fight.” Sarah’s work in gun violence prevention was amplified after two gunmen opened fire at her childhood mosque in San Diego.
Team ENOUGH Founding Member and Parkland survivor Robert Schentrup said:
I helped found Team ENOUGH after my sister, Carmen, was killed in the Parkland shooting. We had a clear goal: to make today’s youth the generation that ends America’s gun violence crisis. Seeing these young leaders step into this work gives me so much hope. They are bringing new ideas and fierce determination — and carrying forward a movement that was born from tragedy but refuses to be defined by it. I’m incredibly proud to welcome Zoe, Lorenzo, Sarah, Ananya, Trey, Gray, and Zharia to the forefront of the youth movement against gun violence.
New Executive Council Member Sarah Youssef said:
This past spring, two gunmen opened fire on my childhood mosque and school, killing three of our beloved community members and staff in a horrific act of hate. In those terrible moments, Brady and Team ENOUGH were there for me. I was able to rely on my years of leadership with Team ENOUGH San Diego to rise up and advocate for my community, including speaking to the national media and demanding solutions. Brady and Team ENOUGH gave me the skills to be a leader in that moment; now I am excited to guide this growing movement and help other youth activists, just like me, find their voices so that we can put an end to America’s gun violence epidemic.
Team ENOUGH is powered by over 60 student-run chapters across the country. Its Youth Advocacy Training Program is the only youth-led, nationwide lobbying effort focused on passing gun safety legislation. Team ENOUGH members have testified before Congress, helped pass major landmark gun safety legislation, and mobilized thousands of young people at schools and campuses across the country. Brady: United Against Gun Violence is the nation's oldest gun organization working to free America from gun violence. We believe that changing laws alone won’t end our nation's gun violence crisis; we must also change hearts and minds. That’s why we take a comprehensive approach to end this epidemic: change the laws, change the gun industry, and change the conversation about guns in America.
