Brady condemns the act of political violence and calls for a united response to free America from gun violence
WASHINGTON, D.C. July 13, 2024 – After a shooting at a rally for Donald Trump in Butler, Pennsylvania, that has left at least two dead, including the shooter, Brady, the nation’s oldest gun violence prevention organization, released the following statement condemning the act of political violence.
Brady President Kris Brown said,
“There is no excuse for political violence or gun violence of any kind. I am wishing for the safety of all of those at the rally in Pennsylvania, including Donald Trump. We know what’s at stake in the 2024 election. Our country is in the grip of a gun violence crisis and our democracy and safety are on the ballot. We must work together to free America from gun violence.
Brady’s namesake, Reagan Press Secretary Jim Brady, was also shot in an act of political violence that ultimately took his life. Until his death, he worked to pass gun safety laws and create a safer country for us all. We can only hope that the events of today will have the same impact and inspire calls of action for common-sense gun reform and a deep examination of our nation’s deadly culture around firearms.”
Brady President Kris Brown is available for interview live, via phone, or Zoom.
Trump may promote a "guns everywhere agenda," but this is not an America ANYONE can accept. #EndGunViolence

Brady has one powerful mission — to unite all Americans against gun violence. We work across Congress, the courts, and our communities with over 90 grassroots chapters, bringing together young and old, red and blue, and every shade of color to find common ground in common sense. In the spirit of our namesakes Jim and Sarah Brady, we have fought for over 45 years to take action, not sides, and we will not stop until this epidemic ends. It’s in our hands.
