For second straight year, Super Bowl parade disrupted by gunfire on Parkland anniversary, with at least two people shot
WASHINGTON, D.C., February 14, 2025 — Today, Brady President Kris Brown responded to a shooting during the Philadelphia Eagles Super Bowl parade. According to initial news reports, at least two people have been shot, with details still unfolding.
Brady President Kris Brown, said:
"As we’re recognizing seven years since one of the deadliest school shootings in history, America is confronted yet again with the devastating reality of our gun violence epidemic. For the second straight year, a Super Bowl parade has ended in gunfire.
The Super Bowl is as American as apple pie - and tragically, so is gun violence. The question echoes: why? The answer remains stark and simple: the guns.
The weight of this tragedy bears down not just on Philadelphia, but on every American community that lives with the constant shadow of gun violence. Our children practice active shooter drills. Our cities plan celebrations with mass shooting protocols. This is not freedom - it's fear. And it's preventable.
We have the solutions. What we need now is to put our communities first and implement them. Until we do, we'll continue to be the only nation where 'Super Bowl parade shooting' becomes an annual headline. This cycle of violence can and must end."
It is devastating that the @Eagles now have to turn to from celebrating to mourning amid gunfire breaking out at the Super Bowl parade in Philly, with at least two people shot and injured.

Not again. Why does this keep happening? BECAUSE OF THE GUNS. Gun violence shouldn't be as uniquely American as the Super Bowl. But today now marks 2 years in a row of parade shootings — on top of the anniversary of the Parkland mass shooting. @fredguttenberg.bsky.social @bradyunited.org

Brady has one powerful mission — to unite all Americans against gun violence. We work across Congress, the courts, and our communities with over 90 grassroots chapters, bringing together young and old, red and blue, and every shade of color to find common ground in common sense. In the spirit of our namesakes Jim and Sarah Brady, we have fought for over 45 years to take action, not sides, and we will not stop until this epidemic ends. It’s in our hands.
