Brady Responds to Monterey Park Mass Shooting

The Monterey Park Shooting, Which Followed Lunar New Year Celebrations, Illustrates the Urgent Need for Solutions to Reduce America's Gun Violence Epidemic.

Washington, D.C., January 22, 2022 – Last night a gunman opened fire and killed at least 10 people at a ballroom dance club in Monterey Park, Calif., a city near Los Angeles with a high Asian population. The shooting occurred around Lunar New Year celebrations and is already the third mass shooting in California in 2023.

“It is devastating to live in a country where we have to continually wake up to this horrific news. It is even more egregious that it has become normal for people to be gunned down in the middle of a joyous holiday celebration. There is no place in our country for hate-filled individuals to target others based on prejudice, bigotry and racism. Our deepest sympathies are with the families and individuals impacted by this senseless attack impacting the AAPI community.”
