The Brady Campaign and Center Names Kristin Brown as President

Washington, D.C., November 28, 2018 – The Brady Campaign and Center to Prevent Gun Violence (“Brady”) announced today that co-President Kristin Brown has been named President of Brady. Avery Gardiner, who has served alongside Brown as co-President, has decided to leave the organization, and will work with Ms. Brown on this transition.

“Kris has been an exceptional leader since assuming the role of co-President last year, and we are confident that as President she will continue successfully guiding us in our mission to cut gun deaths in half by 2025,” said Kevin Quinn, Chairman of the Board.

Quinn continued, “The Board would also like to thank Avery, who served Brady as Co-President and Chief Legal Officer during one of the organization’s most dramatic periods of growth. She has been an influential leader in the gun violence prevention movement, and we are grateful for her service and commitment to Brady and our cause of gun violence prevention.”

In her first year as co-President, Brown re-launched Brady’s successful PAC, refocused the organization’s policy activities into Brady’s Three Point Plan, and helped drive the grassroots engagement strategy that supported the election of the first gun violence prevention majority in the House of Representatives. She also helped develop and launch the non-profit’s ‘End Family Fire’ national campaign.

Prior to her appointment as co-President in September 2017, Brown held the role of Chief Strategy Officer for Brady. She began her tenure with the organization as its National Policy Director and has a corporate, policy and legal background, having worked on Capitol Hill for more than eight years, focusing on violence prevention and public health policy. Brown also served as the Chief Legal & Administrative Officer to a publicly traded company, where she provided strategic oversight and direction to the legal, risk, communications and marketing functions as a member of the executive team. She started her career representing companies and pro-bono clients in complex litigation and restructuring cases at the law firm of Weil, Gotshal & Manges.
