Allen, Texas Shooting is the Third High-Profile Mass Shooting in Past Week.

Washington, D.C., May 6, 2023 – Eight people are dead and at least seven others are injured following a mass shooting at Allen Premium Outlets in Allen, Texas. Brady, the country’s oldest gun violence prevention organization, released the following statement:

Kris Brown, president of Brady, said:

“A house, a doctors’ office, and now a mall. This is the third high-profile mass shooting in the past week, and the second in Texas, which has among the weakest gun laws in the country. These horrific tragedies are occurring with increasing regularity and it's clear there’s no place in this country where Americans are safe from gun violence.”
“But this will continue to be our reality unless and until the U.S. changes its relationship with guns and our lawmakers finally answer to the American people, not the gun lobby. Our hearts go out to the victims and families of yet another senseless mass shooting.”

Brady has one powerful mission — to unite all Americans against gun violence. We work across Congress, the courts, and our communities with over 90 grassroots chapters, bringing together young and old, red and blue, and every shade of color to find common ground in common sense. In the spirit of our namesakes Jim and Sarah Brady, we have fought for over 45 years to take action, not sides, and we will not stop until this epidemic ends. It’s in our hands.
