Veronica Escobar: “Tomorrow is a New Day” for Gun Safety

Washington, D.C., November 6, 2018 - After earning the right to represent Texas’s 16th Congressional District tonight, Veronica Escobar released the following statement thanking the Brady Campaign for their support and pledging to put gun safety at the top of her agenda in Congress:

“Here in El Paso, just as across the nation, we know that common sense solutions exist to protect our communities from gun violence. I’m grateful to the Brady Campaign for their support throughout our campaign, and I look forward to working with them in Washington. It’s been far too long since Congress took any real steps towards addressing this issue, but tomorrow is a new day, and I look forward to addressing this issue head on.”

###

Brady has one powerful mission — to unite all Americans against gun violence. We work across Congress, the courts, and our communities with over 90 grassroots chapters, bringing together young and old, red and blue, and every shade of color to find common ground in common sense. In the spirit of our namesakes Jim and Sarah Brady, we have fought for over 45 years to take action, not sides, and we will not stop until this epidemic ends. It’s in our hands.
