Washington, D.C., November 25, 2020 - Today, the Team ENOUGH Youth Lobbying Collective, a youth-led program that activates young people to lobby their state and federal legislatures, is excited to announce their official expansion to California, Florida, and Virginia. This latest iteration of Team ENOUGH’s lobbying collective will work with local and federal leaders across the country to share why gun violence prevention is a priority for America’s young people.

Team ENOUGH National Lobbying Co-Coordinator Adam Friedman shared:

“The Team ENOUGH Youth Lobbying Collective has already proven young people are well-equipped to bring about legislative change in America. We recognize the long-overdue need for gun safety legislation in our country—our generation can’t ignore it, as gun violence rips away friends in our schools and loved ones in our homes and neighborhoods. Our new class of youth lobbyists is ready to continue the push for change. On the state and federal levels, we will make our voices heard so the next generation no longer has to fear for their lives because of the gun violence epidemic.”

Team ENOUGH Co-National Lobbying Coordinator Ritika Iyer shared:

“Just five semesters old, the Team ENOUGH Youth Lobbying Collective has ensured that our state legislators and the U.S. Congress know where young people stand on gun safety. In California, Florida, and Virginia, we have educated our members on the intersectionalities of gun violence and how to use their own voices to call for action on lifesaving legislation. And in each state, we have seen new gun violence prevention laws in the past several years, a testament to the power that a passionate rising generation holds. We have also lobbied on the federal level, where our students’ lobbying efforts helped sway Congress to vote to fund gun violence research for the first time since 1996, and where we expect further change in the near future after this year’s Election Day victory for gun violence prevention candidates.”

The Team ENOUGH Youth Lobbying Collective’s state leadership:

California:

  • Maodan Tohouri, California Program Lead
  • Carolina Zdanowski, California Legislative Coordinator

Florida:

  • Alyssa Ackbar, Florida Legislative Coordinator

Virginia:

  • Sky Bailey, Virginia Program Lead
  • Aaryan Rawal, Virginia Program Lead

Washington, D.C.:

  • Madison Green, Federal Program Lead

With an enthusiastic class of new members, the Team ENOUGH Youth Lobbying Collective brings renewed energy to their call for change, especially after Election Day’s resounding victory for the gun violence prevention movement and lawmakers who support it. From chapters in cities across the country to the U.S. Capitol in Washington, D.C., the young people leading the Lobbying Collective will continue making their voices heard and demanding change to prevent gun violence.

Brady has one powerful mission — to unite all Americans against gun violence. We work across Congress, the courts, and our communities with over 90 grassroots chapters, bringing together young and old, red and blue, and every shade of color to find common ground in common sense. In the spirit of our namesakes Jim and Sarah Brady, we have fought for over 45 years to take action, not sides, and we will not stop until this epidemic ends. It’s in our hands.
