FROM FRIDAY, JUNE 25 TO MONDAY, JUNE 28, TEAM ENOUGH WILL TRAVEL FROM TALLAHASSEE TO MIAMI RECRUITING YOUNG PEOPLE TO JOIN THE GUN VIOLENCE PREVENTION MOVEMENT

Washington, D.C., June 24, 2021 - Today, Team ENOUGH and Brady announce Team ENOUGH’s first-ever in-person recruitment tour in Florida. Representatives from Team ENOUGH and from Brady will travel across the state from Tallahassee to Miami, meeting with young people concerned about gun violence in their state and mobilizing their important voices to join Team ENOUGH and the movement to prevent gun violence.

The Team ENOUGH Executive Council shared:

“Though Team ENOUGH has grown exponentially since its founding following the Parkland shooting in 2018, we are going back to our roots to rally and mobilize in Florida and recruit more young people who have had “ENOUGH” of gun violence in their state and in our country. This tour will demonstrate once again that our generation’s voice is clear, is powerful, and is undaunted in our call for an end to gun violence in this country. We will not accept continued inaction and neither will the young people of Florida.”

Team ENOUGH Executive Councilmember and Parkland Survivor Aalayah Eastmond shared:

“As a survivor of the 2018 mass shooting at Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School in Parkland, Florida, this tour is personal to me. Parkland is not only the beginning of my journey as an activist, but also of Team ENOUGH’s formation. However, even since 2018, gun violence has continued to plague communities all across Florida, all while its governor and other elected officials choose to let the state’s residents die rather than act. With this tour, we will demonstrate to them that their children and the state’s youngest voters are watching and they are fed up with inaction. We will no longer accept shootings in our high schools in our Publix supermarkets or on our street corners and in our homes. Team ENOUGH has shown over the last three years that when our generation mobilizes, nothing will stop us. This month, we’re going to show Florida the same thing.”

Gun violence survivor and Brady Vice President of Organizing Maisha Fields shared:

“The young people of our country have shown us that they are ready to lead in the effort to stop gun violence. Team ENOUGH has been instrumental in the effort to mobilize and organize the next generation of activists and voters. This tour demonstrates that Team ENOUGH will not stop growing and will not stop in the fight to end this epidemic. We will share the voices and vision of these young people across Florida, bringing more engaged or concerned young people into our movement and ensuring that lawmakers everywhere understand that these young people mean business.”

Brady has one powerful mission — to unite all Americans against gun violence. We work across Congress, the courts, and our communities with over 90 grassroots chapters, bringing together young and old, red and blue, and every shade of color to find common ground in common sense. In the spirit of our namesakes Jim and Sarah Brady, we have fought for over 45 years to take action, not sides, and we will not stop until this epidemic ends. It’s in our hands.
