STATEMENT FROM THE CHAIRMAN OF THE BOARD, KEVIN QUINN

Washington D.C., September 6, 2017 — On September 6, 2017, The Board of Trustees of The Brady Campaign and Center to Prevent Gun Violence announced a leadership change and appointed Kristin Brown and Avery Gardiner, as Co-Presidents.

As many of our constituents know, the Brady Campaign and Center's mission to cut gun deaths in half by 2025 has never been more urgent. Brady has a focused strategy to prevent gun violence, and we need strong leaders with exceptional strategic and operational skills to achieve our goals.

We have those leaders in Kris and Avery.

They bring extensive public policy, corporate and legal expertise, strongly positioning them to lead the organization from Washington.

Both Kris and Avery currently serve on the Brady executive management team as Chief Strategy Officer and Chief Legal Officer respectively. Both lawyers and seasoned leaders, Brown and Gardiner will lead the organization from Washington, with a renewed focus on our three campaigns: expanding and protecting the Brady background check system; changing the perception that a gun in the home makes you safer; and reducing the flow of crime guns.

Dan Gross, our immediate past president, has stepped down.

Brady has one powerful mission — to unite all Americans against gun violence. We work across Congress, the courts, and our communities with over 90 grassroots chapters, bringing together young and old, red and blue, and every shade of color to find common ground in common sense. In the spirit of our namesakes Jim and Sarah Brady, we have fought for over 45 years to take action, not sides, and we will not stop until this epidemic ends. It’s in our hands.
