Washington, D.C., January 23, 2022 – According to media reports at least seven people have been killed in a mass shooting incident at a mushroom farm in Half Moon Bay, Calif., the fourth mass shooting in the state this year. The shooting comes one day after a mass shooting in Monterey Park, Calif.

Kris Brown, president of Brady, said:

“It is devastating that we must suffer through one mass shooting while we are still reeling from the last.
“We live in the only industrialized country where tragedies like this are an everyday event. The frequency and regularity of these mass shootings have left our country in a perpetual state of grief. Our heart breaks for the victims and families of yet another senseless tragedy.”

While details of the gun used and the shooter’s motivation are still unknown, Kris Brown, president of Brady, is available for interview live, via phone, or Zoom, and can discuss:

  • The scope of gun violence prevention laws in California;

  • What Congress, state legislatures, and localities can do to reduce gun violence; and

  • The need and demand to ban assault weapons, which are the weapon of choice for America’s mass shooters.
