Washington, D.C., June 2, 2022 - Following the markup of H.R. 7910, the “Protecting Our Kids Act,” Brady urges the U.S. House of Representatives to pass this important bill without delay. Included in this Act are numerous life-saving bills, such as ‘Ethan’s Law,’ which requires safe gun storage when kids can get access to them, and a bill to ban the sale of ghost guns nationwide. In total, the many policies in this bill are common-sense, address the many causes of gun violence, and update and improve our nation’s firearm laws and regulations.

Brady President Kris Brown shared:

“The House must pass the Protecting Our Kids Act. Following the horrific mass shootings over the past few weeks, and the constant onslaught of daily gun violence, the need for comprehensive, national gun violence prevention policies has never been clearer. The bills included in this act address the many forms of gun violence, from unintentional shootings to gun homicide and suicide, as well as the drivers that facilitate that violence, such as gun trafficking and the proliferation of untraceable ghost guns. In total, this act would tangibly strengthen and update our nation’s gun violence prevention laws and would undoubtedly save lives.

The House has now passed numerous gun violence prevention bills, continuing to lead by example and respond to the needs and desires of Americans. They must likewise pass this important legislation without delay.”

About the “Protecting Our Kids Act,”

The “Protecting Our Kids Act” includes numerous gun violence prevention policies that would increase the age limit on the purchase of certain firearms, prevent gun trafficking, modernize the prohibition on untraceable firearms, and encourage the safe storage of firearms.

Brady has one powerful mission — to unite all Americans against gun violence. We work across Congress, the courts, and our communities with over 90 grassroots chapters, bringing together young and old, red and blue, and every shade of color to find common ground in common sense. In the spirit of our namesakes Jim and Sarah Brady, we have fought for over 45 years to take action, not sides, and we will not stop until this epidemic ends. It’s in our hands.
