Brady Endorses Rep. Thomas Suozzi (NY-03) for Re-Election

Washington, D.C., February 20, 2020 - Today Brady endorsed Rep. Thomas Suozzi (NY-03) in his campaign for re-election to the U.S. House of Representatives in 2020.

Brady President Kris Brown shared:

“Throughout his time in Congress, Rep. Suozzi has demonstrated steadfast commitment to addressing our nation’s gun violence epidemic. From supporting the two, bipartisan bills, H.R.8 and H.R.1112, to expand and strengthen federal background checks on firearm purchases to advocating for the first funding for federal research into gun violence in over 20 years, Rep. Suozzi has shown that he will act to prevent gun violence and will champion the voices of survivors, such as bringing Linda Beigel Schulman, who lost her son Scott in the mass shooting at Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School, to this year’s State of the Union. His dedication to keeping all Americans safe is clear. Brady is proud to endorse Rep. Suozzi for re-election.”

Rep. Suozzi has shown that he will work across the aisle to find solutions to our country’s gun violence epidemic. From working with fellow members of the New York Congressional Delegation, to his role as Vice-Chair of the bipartisan Problem Solvers Caucus, a group of 24 Republicans and 24 Democrats, Rep. Suozzi puts the safety and needs of his constituents above partisan interests. He embodies Brady’s motto, “Take Action, Not Sides.”

Rep. Suozzi shared:

"Since President Trump took office, more than 100,000 people have been killed by gun violence, tearing apart countless families including that of my friend and constituent, Linda Beigel Schulman, whose son was tragically killed in Parkland two years ago. Despite Mitch McConnell's unwillingness to act, advocates like Linda and groups like the Brady Campaign continue to inspire me to never give up. I am honored to have their endorsement and will always join them in the fight to end the gun violence epidemic. Lives depend on it."

Given the urgent need for federal action to reform our nation’s gun laws and to reduce gun violence, Brady will continue to issue endorsements for the U.S. House of Representatives, U.S. Senate and state and local offices ahead of the 2020 elections.
