Brady Endorses Rep. Jerry McNerney (CA-09) for Re-Election

Washington, D.C., February 12, 2020 - Today Brady endorsed Rep. Jerry McNerney (CA-09) in his campaign for re-election to the U.S. House of Representatives in 2020.

Brady President Kris Brown shared:

“Rep. McNerney has demonstrated his commitment to ensuring that the federal government passes comprehensive gun violence prevention legislation. He has championed policies and helped to pass bills that will make Californians and all Americans safer. Brady is proud to endorse him for re-election to continue that fight in the next Congress. We need to send Rep. McNerney back to Washington.”

Rep. McNerney has been a consistent champion of gun safety policies, such as co-sponsoring H.R.8, the bipartisan bill that passed the U.S. House of Representatives over 345 days ago but has yet to receive a vote in the U.S. Senate. H.R.8 and its companion bill H.R.1112 would strengthen and expand federal background checks, helping to ensure that individuals who are proven a risk to themselves or others do not possess weapons.

Rep. McNerney shared:

I’m proud to receive the endorsement of Brady and look forward to continuing to fight alongside them to combat our nation’s gun violence epidemic. Since coming to Congress, I’ve supported much-needed gun reforms, and I will keep pushing for legislation to make our communities safer.”

Given the urgent need for federal action to reform our nation’s gun laws and to reduce gun violence, Brady will continue to issue endorsements for the U.S. House of Representatives, U.S. Senate and state and local offices ahead of the 2020 elections.
