Brady Endorses Rep. Harley Rouda (CA-48) for Re-Election

Washington, D.C., February 10, 2020 - Today Brady endorsed Rep. Harley Rouda (CA-48) in his campaign for re-election to the U.S. House of Representatives in 2020.

Brady President Kris Brown shared:

“Rep. Rouda supports and champions the common-sense and proven gun violence prevention laws that bipartisan majorities of Americans support. Policies like expanding and strengthening federal background checks to ensure that individuals who are a danger to themselves or others are not able to possess weapons. After a little over one year in office, it is clear that Rep. Rouda will continue to put the interests of his constituents first, this includes voting for the bipartisan gun violence prevention bills H.R.8 and H.R.1112. We need more voices like Rep. Rouda’s in Congress. It’s why we must send him back to Washington. Brady is proud to endorse Rep. Rouda for re-election.”

In his time in Congress. Rep. Rouda has been a consistent champion of gun safety policies that will keep Orange County families safe, including helping to ensure that last year’s funding bill contained the first funding for federal research of gun violence in a generation. Rep. Rouda also co-sponsored H.R.8, the bipartisan bill that passed the U.S. House of Representatives over 345 days ago but has yet to receive a vote in the U.S. Senate. H.R.8, and its companion bill H.R.1112, would strengthen and expand federal background checks.

Rep. Rouda shared:

“I am incredibly honored to again have earned the support of Brady in my re-election campaign. In Congress, I have worked tirelessly to address our national crisis of senseless gun violence by advancing common sense gun safety measures including enacting universal background checks, closing the Charleston Loophole to give law enforcement appropriate time to check criminal records, and reinstating a ban on military-style assault weapons. I look forward to continuing to work with Brady to build safer communities together, because it is outrageous that Americans have to live in constant fear of losing a loved one to preventable gun violence.”

Brady Orange County Chapter President Sandy Wilder shared:

“Orange County finally has representatives who reflect our values and know that enough is enough. In the past year, Rep. Rouda has taken action to prevent gun violence and I'm confident that he will continue to take action, not sides, to fight to end gun violence."

Given the urgent need for federal action to reform our nation’s gun laws and to reduce gun violence,Brady will continue to issue endorsements for the U.S. House of Representatives, U.S. Senate and state and local offices ahead of the 2020 elections.
