Washington, D.C., December 11, 2019 - Today Brady endorsed Dr. Hiral Tipirneni to represent Arizona’s 6th District in the United States House of Representatives.
Brady President Kris Brown stated:
“Dr. Tipirneni has seen the consequences of America’s gun violence epidemic first hand. As an emergency room doctor, she has witnessed the physical and emotional damage inflicted by gun violence. She understands that the gun violence epidemic in America is a public health crisis. That’s why Brady is proud to endorse Dr. Tipirneni, because she will champion common-sense gun violence prevention policies that will take a public health approach to solving this national emergency and save lives.”
Dr. Tipirneni’s unique perspective on the gun violence epidemic is invaluable. In addition to her work in the ER, Dr. Tipirneni serves on the board of directors of the Maricopa Health Foundation, which supports the county’s public health care delivery system, providing further expertise in implementing a public health approach to addressing gun violence.
This includes supporting gun safety policies already embraced by a majority of Americans -- Republicans, Democrats, gun owners and non-gun owners alike. Policies such as closing loopholes in background check policies, including those that allow prohibited purchasers to buy weapons on the internet or at gun shows without having to complete a background check.
Dr. Tipirneni shared:
"As a former ER physician, I've seen the horrific trauma and devastating loss of life from gun violence up close. It is a public health crisis we must address immediately to save lives. I'm proud to have the endorsement of Brady and fight alongside them to put an end to senseless gun violence."
Dr. Tipirneni embraces common-sense and effective policies. It’s why we need her voice in Washington.
Given the urgent need for federal action to reform our nation’s gun laws and to reduce gun violence, Brady will continue to issue endorsements for the U.S. House of Representatives, U.S. Senate and state and local offices ahead of the 2020 elections.
Brady has one powerful mission — to unite all Americans against gun violence. We work across Congress, the courts, and our communities with over 90 grassroots chapters, bringing together young and old, red and blue, and every shade of color to find common ground in common sense. In the spirit of our namesakes Jim and Sarah Brady, we have fought for over 45 years to take action, not sides, and we will not stop until this epidemic ends. It’s in our hands.
