Washington, D.C., June 28, 2018 - Once again, a fatal shooting has left a community, this time in Annapolis, MD, in tears. With five confirmed dead and other details continuing to emerge, the Brady Campaign to Prevent Gun Violence issued a statement expressing outrage at yet another mass shooting in America.
Brady co-presidents Kris Brown and Avery Gardiner stated:
“Our hearts and our heads are reeling today at the news of yet another tragic shooting. Yet another day where parents won’t return home to their children, where more souls join the ledger of 96 people killed by gun violence every day in America. Yet another day where men and women who were simply trying to do their job were terrorized, hiding under desks in fear for their lives. We can’t allow this to go on any longer. We can’t allow America’s epidemic of gun violence to continue. We must organize, we must fight, we must vote, we must stand together and say ENOUGH.”
Brady has one powerful mission — to unite all Americans against gun violence. We work across Congress, the courts, and our communities with over 90 grassroots chapters, bringing together young and old, red and blue, and every shade of color to find common ground in the common sense. In the spirit of our founders Jim and Sarah Brady, we have fought for over 25 years to take action, not sides, and we will not stop until this epidemic ends. It’s in our hands.
