Brady Campaign on Cody Wilson Resignation from Defense Distributed

Washington, D.C., September 25, 2018 – Today, embattled crypto-anarchist Cody Wilson announced that he will step down, effective immediately, as CEO of Defense Distributed. This follows his recent arrest and deportation on charges of sexually assaulting a minor. The Brady Campaign to Prevent Gun Violence, which has been a leading voice in the fight against Wilson’s publication of blueprints for 3D-printed guns, made clear that the organization’s efforts will continue despite today’s announcement.

Brady Campaign co-presidents Avery Gardiner and Kris Brown stated:

“Cody Wilson was the face of Defense Distributed and 3D-printed guns, but we doubt that his movement will die with his resignation. The Pandora’s box has been opened, and it will not go away with Wilson. Because of his actions, 3D-printed guns now pose a danger all over the world, from the United States to Europe to Taiwan. The next Cody Wilson is merely waiting in the wings, and we will continue to do everything in our power to combat this threat until it is no more.”

Brady has one powerful mission — to unite all Americans against gun violence. We work across Congress, the courts, and our communities with over 90 grassroots chapters, bringing together young and old, red and blue, and every shade of color to find common ground in the common sense. In the spirit of our founders Jim and Sarah Brady, we have fought for over 25 years to take action, not sides, and we will not stop until this epidemic ends. It’s in our hands.
