BRADY CAMPAIGN CALLS FOR IMMEDIATE DISCLOSURE OF NRA CONTRIBUTORS' IDENTITIES

WASHINGTON D.C., January 19, 2018 — The Brady Campaign issued the following statement on the FBI investigation into Russian campaign contributions to the NRA in the 2016 election:

"NRA members should be outraged if even a portion of this alarming story is true. The NRA tells its members that it defends America's freedoms. If the NRA is actually a front for Russian interests and interfered with our elections, actively or passively, then they have undermined the very democratic freedoms they purport to represent. We can only wonder how many true patriots will decide that this is the last straw and give up their NRA memberships," said Co-President Kris Brown.

Brady Co-President Avery Gardiner added, "Elections matter. Election laws matter. Revelations that the Russians may have made contributions through the NRA are deeply concerning and may violate multiple laws. Brady calls upon the NRA leadership to immediately disclose the identities of all contributors to its political activities. Until they do so, all candidates should have serious concerns about the ethics and legality of accepting NRA contributions."
