Brady Announces Launch of New Podcast: Red, Blue, and Brady

Podcast will explore America’s gun violence epidemic, survivor stories, and efforts to find common-ground in common-sense solutions

Washington, D.C., October 7, 2019 — On Monday, Brady officially launched its new podcast — Red, Blue, and Brady. From one of the oldest and boldest national organizations advocating for gun violence prevention, Red, Blue, and Brady combines the best of current events and personal narratives, exploring the epidemic of gun violence in America, how it impacts us all, and what we as individuals can do to make a difference.

Brady President, Kris Brown stated,

“Brady is constantly working to elevate the voices of survivors, activists, and those impacted by gun violence. We want Red, Blue, and Brady to serve as a platform for those impacted to tell their stories, but also for those who may not know much about gun violence in America to better understand the everyday realities. It’s only through dialogue that we can find common ground. Brady works to bring together gun owners and non-gun owners, individuals across the political spectrum, and from all walks of life to take action, not sides. We hope that Red, Blue, and Brady will help make that happen through engaging people across the country.”

Vice President of Communications, Cordy Galligan stated,

“The gun violence epidemic in the United States weighs on each and every one of us. Whether you’ve been personally impacted, have felt wrongfully blamed, or simply look around for the exits every time you go to a movie theater — we’re all affected by gun violence. Red, Blue, and Brady attempts to bring us together to call out that common thread in a way that is informational and in a “living room” conversational tone. Survivors, activists, gun owners, veterans, writers, politicians, lawyers, and so many others join us in this conversation to help find common ground in this movement to prevent gun violence.”

The podcast launched three episodes Monday, following a teaser, minisode, and news wrap up the week prior. A new episode of Red, Blue, and Brady will be released every Monday with a breakdown of the latest in gun violence prevention news on Fridays.

Episodes released Monday include:

  • An interview with Representative Tony Coelho, a longtime friend of Jim and SarahBrady, majority whip at the time the Brady bill was first introduced, and writer of the Americans with Disabilities Act.
  • An interview with Ivy Schamis, a survivor and teacher at Marjory Stoneman Douglas in Parkland Florida where her classroom was fired upon and two of her students were among the 17 killed.
  • The story of Kirsten Englund, who was shot and killed on the side of the road while on her way to visit her son in college and Brady’s legal case that sought justice on behalf of her family.

You can listen to Red, Blue, and Brady on all major podcast platforms including Apple Podcasts, Spotify, Stitcher, and TuneIn. You can also check out the podcast at BradyUnited.org/Podcast for episodes, transcripts, and more information.
