Please call California Governor Newsom and urge him to sign AB 1669 and SB 61 into law! These important gun safety bills fund enforcement of California's strong gun laws, regulate sellers of ammunition at gun shows, help curb gun trafficking, and prevent the purchase of semi-automatic rifles by people under age 21.
- AB 1669, authored by Assemblymember Rob Bonta (D-Oakland), raises the dealers’ record of sale fee paid by consumers when buying firearms. This fee goes to the California Department of Justice to cover the cost of vital measures like background checks.
- SB 61, authored by Senator Anthony J. Portantino (D–La Cañada Flintridge), limits the number of semi-automatic rifles that a person can purchase within a 30-day period and restrict the sale of semi-automatic weapons to people under age 21.
These common-sense gun safety bills will help save lives. Please call Gov. Newsom now!
