6 Ways You Can Take Action Now

Louisville. Nashville. Half Moon Bay. Monterey Park... There have already been more than 100 mass shootings in 2023. We don't have to live this way.

Gun violence is a public health epidemic in the United States. We cannot wait another minute to demand action to keep our communities safe. Together, we can move the needle to save lives and create a safer country. Here's how you can take action now.

On April 10, 2023, a gunman armed with an AR-15, killed four people in Louisville, Kentucky, in what was the 146th mass shooting of the year. The shooting came only two weeks after three young children and three adults were killed in a mass shooting at Covenant School, in Nashville, TN.

These shootings, once again, have shown us that assault-weapons are the weapon of choice for mass shooters. And when these uniquely lethal firearms are paired with large-capacity magazines and accessories like pistol braces as they were in Nashville, the results are catastrophic.

Despite what some lawmakers claim, we know that these senseless tragedies are preventable. We must take action and pass life-saving gun reform measures. Our collective power can make the difference. From Jim and Sarah to our network of grassroots chapters today, we are shown our determination and know that together, we have the power to save lives. Are you with us?

Here are six ways you can take action now to join the fight against gun violence.

Urge the U.S. Senate to ban assault weapons and large-capacity magazines

Some of the deadliest mass shootings in America all have one thing in common: The shooter used an AR-15-style weapon. We must ban these weapons of war to protect our communities.

DEMAND LAWMAKERS KEEP SHORT-BARRELED RIFLES OFF OUR STREETS

House members are considering a resolution to nullify a rule around "stabilizing braces," making them easier for mass shooters to obtain. These braces turn pistols into uniquely lethal short-barreled rifles, like the one used at Covenant School in Nashville.

Tell Lawmakers to Support Extreme Risk Laws!

Extreme risk laws are an effective tool to stop shootings before they happen. These laws give family members and law enforcement an avenue to prevent a person in crisis from harming themselves or others by temporarily removing guns and preventing the purchase of others.

Ask your friends and family: Do you lock up your guns?

This simple question can prevent someone from having access to a gun when they shouldn't. Learn more about how you can ensure guns are stored safely to prevent tragedies and save lives.
