Washington D.C., November 5, 2017 — According to news reports, a gunman entered a church this morning in a small town near San Antonio, Texas and opened fire. He killed 26 people and wounded 20 more. Brady is monitoring the situation carefully. Our hearts go out to the victims, their families, friends and to the entire community of Sutherland Springs, TX. The residents of Sutherland Springs join communities across this country whose lives have been torn apart by gun violence. After every horrific event, thoughts and prayers are offered, but action is not. Now is the time for citizens to stand up, hold our elected officials accountable and demand changes to ensure dangerous people do not have ready access to guns.

Brady has one powerful mission — to unite all Americans against gun violence. We work across Congress, the courts, and our communities with over 90 grassroots chapters, bringing together young and old, red and blue, and every shade of color to find common ground in common sense. In the spirit of our namesakes Jim and Sarah Brady, we have fought for over 45 years to take action, not sides, and we will not stop until this epidemic ends. It’s in our hands.
