Washington, D.C., June 10, 2021 - Following the shooting in a Royal Palm Beach Publix that left three people dead, including a child and the shooter, Brady calls for immediate action to prevent gun violence. Gun violence continues to threaten Americans’ everyday life, enough is enough.

Brady President Kris Brown shared:

“America’s gun violence epidemic is again on display after at least two people, including a child were killed in a shooting at a Publix grocery store. No one should fear for their lives while going about daily activities and we cannot accept that we risk our lives by simply stepping outside of our homes to shop at the grocery store. Today’s shooting underscores the desperate need for action to prevent gun violence at every level of government. We need the Senate to pass comprehensive gun violence prevention legislation like the two common-sense bills that the House sent to them in March. At the same time and in the shadow of increased gun violence, Shamefully, Florida’s governor has continued to cater to the beck and call of the gun lobby at every opportunity and continues to avoid his responsibility as a leader by opposing any and all common-sense gun violence policies that could save the lives of his constituents. That, too, is unacceptable. We cannot continue to accept inaction or intransigence. Lives are at stake.”

Activist and father of Parkland victim Jaime Guttenberg, Fred Guttenberg shared:

“The latest mass shooting is happening now at a Publix Supermarket in Palm Beach. At least three are confirmed dead, including a child, just because they went to shop for food. To every member of the Senate who thinks protecting the filibuster is more important than protecting the American family, we will replace you.”
